About UCO Bank

UCO Bank was founded in 1943. The founder of the bank was Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla, a renowned industrialist in India. He planned about setting up a

commercial bank during the Quit India Movement of 1942. At the time of its inception, the name of the bank was United Commercial Bank. The bank was nationalized by the Government of India in 1969. The bank turned over a new leaf in its history when it was renamed as UCO Bank in keeping with an Act of Parliament. From the very beginning, the bank was led by visionaries from all walks of life.

United Commercial Bank was comprehensively restructured in 1972 and the bank has grown into one of the steadiest banks in India with around 1700 branches and over 2000 service units. Forex operations are available in more than 50 branches in India. The bank expanded its operations rapidly, specifically in rural regions and UCO Bank has received various recognitions and awards in Priority Sector Lending and social welfare initiatives. Quality of service and customer friendliness are two important factors that have made UCO Bank a trusted name in India.
