State Bank of Patiala
Founded in 1917, State Bank of Patiala is a part of the State Bank of India Group. The bank offers a comprehensive variety of innovative financial solutions and personal banking services which includes savings and current accounts and credit cards.
The glorious tradition of State Bank of Patiala goes back to 1917. The founder of the bank was Maharaja of former Patiala state, His Highness Bhupinder Singh. At the time of its inception, the name of the bank was Patiala State Bank. The bank was founded with a goal of promoting agriculture, trade and business. The bank had gone through a number of developments after the establishment of the Patiala and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU) in 1948. Major restructuring was carried out and it came under the regulation of the Reserve Bank of India.
The bank became a part of State Bank of India in 1960 and the name of the bank was changed to State Bank of Patiala. The bank has developed considerably from that time in terms of amount of business and size. State Bank of Patiala always had a key role in the Indian banking industry.
From the year 2005, all the branches of SBP are core banking branches which is definitely a landmark achievement in the history of the bank. It is the first public sector bank in India to become a fully networked bank. The branches of SBP are spread out in states like Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh U.T., Bihar, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, Hiumachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. At present, the Managing Director of SBP is Shri Ashok Nayar.
