State Bank of Indore
State Bank of Indore is one of the best public sector banks in India. It is a member of the State Bank of India Group. The bank is headquartered in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
State Bank of Indore was founded in 1920 as a result of initiatives taken by His Highness Maharaja Tukojirao Holker-III, the erstwhile ruler of Indore. At the time of its inception, the name of the bank was Indore Bank. The bank became a subsidiary of State Bank of India in 1960 in keeping with the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act, 1959 and subsequently the name of the bank was changed to State Bank of Indore. During its glorious history of 90 years, the bank took over a number of banks which include the Bank of Dewas and Dewas Senior Bank.
The bank received the status of an A-category bank in 1971. The bank has progressed steadily since then and its business turnover has surpassed Rs. 50,000 crores. Presently, the managing director of State Bank of Indore is Smt. Soundara Kumar.
