About IndusInd Bank Ltd

IndusInd Bank Ltd was founded in 1994. The bank was incorporated in 1994 by the then Union Finance Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The founder of the bank was Mr. Srichand P. Hinduja, an eminent businessman and chief of the Hinduja Group. The NRI community also played a significant role behind the formation of the bank by making joint contributions.

IndusInd Bank Ltd. is the oldest banking institution among the new generation banks in India. At present, the Managing Director & CEO of IndusInd Bank Ltd. is Mr. Romesh Sobti.

The bank began its operations with a capital base of Rs. 1,000 million. The amount was equivalent to U.S. $32 million at the existing exchange rate. Out of this amount, Rs. 400 million was supplied by the Non-resident Indians and the rest 600 million was collected through private placement offered by Indian residents.

The bank services both corporate and individual clients with a strong technology interface assisting multi-channel delivery capacities. The bank boasts a huge client base of 2,000,000 people and has a countrywide network of 209 branches and 427 ATMs. The bank has a dominant presence in 168 areas in 28 states and union territories in India.

The total business of IndusInd Bank (deposits along with loans) went past the Rs. 43,000 crore mark in 2009. The bank is associated with many other banks offering accessibility to over 21,000 ATMs for its clients. It works as a clearing bank for two main stock exchanges: the NSE and the BSE and three important commodity exchanges in India - NCDEX, MCX and NMCE.

IndusInd Bank also works as a settlement banker for tea auctions held at Siliguri, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Coonoor and Guwahati.

The bank is the first to launch a solar power ATM in Maharashtra. This was a landmark effort in the area of Green Banking.
