About Bank of India

Bank of India was established in 1906. Headquartered in Mumbai, it is a major competitor of Indian commercial banks like Canara Bank and ICICI Bank. Bank of India is one of the founder members of the Society for Worldwide Inter Bank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) which offers cost-efficient transaction processing and information services.

Bank of India completed 100 years of services in 2006. The Chairman & Managing Director of Bank of India is Shri Alok Kumar Misra.

Bank of India has a glorious history. It started its operations with only 50 employees and a paid up capital of Rs. 50 lakhs. With the passage of time, the bank has developed into one of the most reputed financial service providers in India. The powerful presence of the bank is felt all over India and it also has a considerable degree of international operations. In terms of volume of business, the bank has achieved the position of a premier banking institution in India. The bank launched its IPO in 1997.

Bank of India is the oldest nationalized bank to set up a fully computerized branch and ATM facility in Mumbai in 1989. It is also the first bank in India to open an overseas branch (in London) in 1946.
